Awesomeness

Today, we did our usual runs of Nyzul Isle Investigations. We figured we might as well just stick to surveying those floors known to harbor the nasty bosses. Floor 20 was a pain in the ass, we encountered the dragon, which simply didn't want to die. We barely scrapped our way past it, and it did drop the Askar boots. But since Booty already had them, it was pretty much free lot amongst those who had a heavy armor job high enough... go go Paladin Snuggly? Heh, it's a great piece, so I'll keep it, even if it'll gather dust on my mannequin until my tanking skills are required.

Next run, we made a climb to floor 40, only to meet the gigantic turtle.... and a pathos on White Magic. Meilin was raging. She got dressed to kill, seeing there was little else she could do, but she fainted under the pressure of the pathos, and it was left to the rest of us to finish the Adamantoise off.

That's when pure awesomeness shone. Using his Black Mage tactics, Waddles kited the hulking turtle around, nuking it down progressively, while us melees could only chase after it, landing glancing blows left and right. Waddles practically solo'ed the whole fight. No drop, but knowing we actually got through a boss floor with a pathos on our sole source of healing power...

Priceless.

There are things you can't beat. For everything else, call Professor Xy.

Time Will Tell

Gosh, what have I not written about in my journal since my last entry... There is so much to talk about, and yet so little I can remember.

I guess the oldest thing was the ongoing inversigation of the Emptiness phenomenon plaguing Vana'diel. It started innocently enough by a few isolated incidents, but it turned out a large, thousand years old ploy was unfolding, and me and the gang got caught right in the middle of it. Since our journey around Vana'diel searching for more information on the impending doom looming at the horizon, I've been thrown in a crescendo of events cumulating to a showdown with what claimed to be a god, no less.

As a result of our efforts, we have been granted access to the legendary land of Al'Taieu. The place is home to a horde of difformed plasmatic monsters, as well as ancient spirits still clinging to their eldering memories. Seeing an opportunity here, I decided as I walked over the cristine bodies of water and through the palace that I ought to make good use of this access to a brand new land.

I decided to work on my Blue Mage.

The road was long and arduous... well, maybe not arduous. I took a great liking to those Fields of Valor manuals, providing training regimes for faster improvement of one's skill in a given profession. As it stood out, a Blue Mage can make short work of easy preys, thus making the reward quickly accessible. And since the training can only be taken once every day, that actually gives me a breather in between two regimes. I spend that time reading up on old story books I never got to finish. I've just finished the tales of Jak and Daxter, 2nd chapter. That was a tough read.

Another event that plagued that last period was the departure of Bucer. Sadly, he had to undergo a pilgrimage of sorts that took him to the far eastern lands. During that time, I barely did any missions, whether it is for the account of San d'Oria, the Aht Urghan Empire, or the Crystal War effort. All my energies were clearly focused on picking regimes from Field Manuals and kicking some ass. After a while, seeing the consternation in my friends' eyes about my newfound addiction, I started dubbing those regimes "Fields of Whore". That sure got a laugh from those who know me best, and quite a few raised eyebrows from other Akai-Tenshi linkmates.

Thankfully, Bucer made a comeback recently, and we started getting back into our regular stride of events. Meilin has even taken charge of a dying Dynamis linkshell, and has.... offered me... *coughnajacough* to join her cause. I've had my first run last night, and though we had a small show of hands, we did fare rather well. I do hope we'll be able to pick up the pace as the shell grows in size.

Oh yeah, and I GOT MY FIRST RELIC ARMOR PIECE!!!! KAWAII!!! BLUE MAGE PANTS!!! *^-^*
